I use an a77ii and the peak focus is a huge help as it is just too difficult (for me anyway) to focus this lens accurately with an OVF. I don't print anything larger than 5x7 unless I PP with DXO first. You can see a bit of a loss in the stems of the plants and edges of the rocks. May be worth trying to test your focus again. Syber, I did have a look at your images, thanks again, and the 2nd is still just a bit off I think. If you have a Bower, by whatever name, and you see a bit of haze, milkiness or blooming in the image wide open, possibly the best you will achieve but if it does not clear up by 5.6, your lens is still a bit off. Your results may vary but I can only look at mine. The Peleng, at whatever f stop, will not be able to match the Bower in the peripheral areas, edges, call them what you want. back for a half body shot you would see little (if any) difference in perspective. No dramatic improvement in the peripheral areas from the Peleng when stopping down but it does improve at 5.6-8 and post helps clean up the CA. There are two very similar lenses for 43 that I bestow the Best. Wide open, the are fairly close centrally with the Bower having the slight edge but the Peleng falls off much more drastically. Likely one of the reasons these type of lenses switch hands so frequently. If one were to pick up a maladjusted copy and not look into the focus issue, they would probably believe the lens is poor.

Is it, after much adjusting still a "b of s"? No, much, much better. Was it a "bag of snot" prior to adjusting the focus over and over again? Yes. Also that I mentioned I would try to adjust. The author of the "fix" noted in the earlier post mentioned he had adjusted his copy and there was an improvement.I may have a maladjusted copy and will explore tomorrow.įollow the threads back enough and you see there was discussion about adjusting the focus. 75 stops as I should have) than the Bower but from some of the reviews I have read, although mixed on the wide-open issue, I would have thought the Bower would be the sharper from the start. At this point, the Peleng seems sharper out of the camera (but I had not added. If you have not seen it i previous posts about the Peleng 8mm, this is the flickr link to some Peleng 8mm images, pre and post DXO11. I cannot insert/add for some reason and am heading to bed.
#DXO VIEWPOINT 2 ROKINON 8MM MANUAL#
Improved overall, especially contrast.Sadly, no auto corrections for this manual lens. I also make the roundtrip to DxOViewPoint (distortion correction) and afterwards to PTLens. I did copy your first image and added some tweaks with dxo11. We dont just rely on one or two captures to profile a lens. I have erased my earlier images or would have posted one as is but will be testing later this week. Difference is noted but mine seemed to be more drastic.
